Enabling social media for IT stands to dramatically enhance the alignment of business and IT. This will mean better engagement to IT's customers (the business and the organization's end users), driving productivity and even lowering costs. 

So, with social platform initiatives, the IT organization will be able to promote IT services within the organization..
